Gossip Girl, I miss you! But get back on track first
In Daily Blog on January 7, 2010 at 11:06 pmTwo things.
As every GG fan out there knows, the show’s on major hiatus until March. That is a two months wait and can I say insane much? Although season 3 isn’t as good as I anticipated it to be, I still need my weekly dosage of GG.
Now that brings me to the next problem. Hands-down, the first two seasons were insanely good and intense. I say it was because that all the hierarchy/monarchy, drama, scandals, cheating, hook-ups, little-J-from-Brooklyn-is-changing thing work together since it makes sense to happen in high school setting where it’s supposed to be full of drama and bitchiness. Unfortunately, this season is falling apart–it doesn’t really have the Gossip Girl worthy kind of material. First of all, the characters aren’t quite getting anywhere. Blair trying to restore the Constance monarchy is getting a little immature and pointless since it’s just dragging on and on with Jenny being a bitch ever since she tried to destroy Blair. Serena’s affair with Tripp Vanderbilt was such a tackless attempt at adding some spice to the storyline. In the end, what happens to Tripp? The wife? So many aspects of the storyline were left hanging. Second of all, having almost every episode featuring some celebrity means less character and Gossip Girl storyline development. Advice: Stop guest starring so many damn celebrities! We are to watch Gossip Girl, not promotions of every celebrity the show can get. Seriously, are the writers having a massive prolonged writer’s block? ’cause I don’t think what I’ve been watching since September was intense, dramatic, and anticipated like the previous episodes.
So even though the hiatus is a long one, I think all GG fans are hoping for improvements and for the writers to get back on track to focus on the real essence of the show. I better not be disappointed.
